This is a rather too autumnal theme for me, I'm not ready to say goodbye to summer just yet.
Though there is plenty of parched summer-brown grass around in the UK just now.
However, I've enjoyed revisiting some of my numerous photos of beautiful Suffolk brown countryside, taken while walking with a best friend and her dog:
This birdbath was in my father's ex-garden
and this door knocker was spotted in the South of France (Domme, in the Dordogne/Lot region).
This is Eastbourne.....
A couple of lost browns:
(apologies if you've seen this photo before, but I couldn't not include this particularly bizarre brownness)
Cob nuts, snapped and then snaffled last autumn...
and lastly and most favourite, a pint of delectably brown Old Speckled Hen.

thanks for your comments everyone.
kimy, I did enjoy doing this brown post. ANd my garden is less brown after some recent rain, at last.
Brian it is a bit creepy, isn't it?
Baino that sounds delightful.
cob nuts are quite like hazlenuts, but taste like a cross between hazlenuts and almonds. Sort of.
The veggies are sugarbeet - grown as a cattle feed.
love the turnips and the autumnal birdbath..nice pint too..mmmm speckled hen :)
ah..sugarbeet..when i was living down in mid-wales the farmers used to grow turnips to feed the sheep..i found this out after taking a regular short cut across the fields one autumn day with shopping bags to be chased by a flock of insane sheep..who i later discovered must have thought it was time for their treat feed lol.still makes me laugh..they were munching at my bags and ramming into the backs of my legs..heart pumping stuff..killer sheeps lol
marvellous how beautiful brown can be!! particularly love that first, muddy field. great eye, lettuce.
