theres nothing like it
getting one's whites out on the line to dry
garden-fresh, fragrant with the air
that wonderful calm smoothness of sun-dried sheets on the bed
crisp white cotton cool + a hint of a memory of the sun's warmth
soothing at the end of a dusty hot day.
and don't get me started on pillows....
you can look at other peoples' whites over here

The smell of clothes dried in the fresh air is amazing, but due to my allergies I cannot hang the clothes on the line to dry outside. I have a contraption that lets you dry clothes in the house but it is just easier to throw them into the dryer.
Although if our electric bill goes any higher then I will have no choice.
What can I say, allergies suck.
God bless.
Oh yes, there is a smell, a feel, a something that you have with sheets that have been dried in the open air that you can never get from machine dried things.
let's hear it for clotheslines and sun bleaching and the fresh scent of truly going green!!!
lovely shadow play, and a very stevesque shot...tee hee!
Oh, I'm agreeing! -J
*sob* been raining for two weeks and my sheets are soggy on the line. Did you know that your clothes line is an Australian invention. Yes please, I'd like to be invited to your next trivia night! Love white sheets . .
what lovely images! I love white.
I can just smell those sheets! Mmmm. It's a lovely day for drying washing. Got one load on the line and another load in the machine right now.
Nice shot!
It's rare to have laundry drying outside around here because it's so blasted rainy.
Yes! I haven't a way to do this now but once in awhile I do the sheets & pillowcases at a friend's & hang them outdoors there. That's how much I love it. (She's very tolerant:)
The pic is great, Letty. Stripes! (Les rayures in French...I love that 'ray' ...OK, I'll stop now)
xoxo
If you put them out here to dry...they'd be done about July 6th!
We have a tumble dryer but I much prefer laundry dried on the line. :)
That looks Daz-white to me ;-}
I love line dried sheets and linens. Very cool take on the theme.
Oh, no... we're getting you started on pillows.
Mmm...fresh dried sheets. Love all the lines playing against the white in the photo.
i can smell their freshness...
and nothing like laying back onto cool clean sheets...
i keep threatening to get a clothes line, but never do... now i fear it's too late, Toby would surely drag everything off to play with.
I loved that smell so much that I used to hang my sheets out, even in winter. Sadly, myarthritis no longer permits me that luxury. Happy TT
Nothing quite like the smell and feel of sheets dried outside! Love it! Love that photo too. Very artistic!
I agree nothing like it. The thrill did wane a little after my 5th wash today.
Just returned from holiday and have a sickly baby - a mega washing combiation!
I love that smell as well, of clothes that have dried on the line...and the smell of cut grass too, seems to be in a similar place in my memory.
I like the shadow lines in your photograph.

For years and years my mother resisted getting a dryer. She had a clothesline and we put our clothes on it to dry LONG after everyone else had switched over to dryers. I always loved clothes from the clothesline, even though there were sometimes rather stiff -- they smelled wonderful.
Just a few years ago, my mother got a dryer. I still can't bring myself to use it! (I wish I had space for my own clothesline!)
