funky...

... dillo

At least in my view, this is a funky dillo.

We have a lot of armadillos in our house. None of them real, you understand.... it just became a bit of a "thing" for a while.

In my early blogging days, I used to post a dillo a day, just for a while. Though I'm not sure I ever got through them all.

We have little armadillos and larger ones. Cuddly, hand-made, ceramic, flowery, tiny and cute and slightly weird...

I think I posted once about the origins of the armadillo theme... hang on, if I can find it, I'll link to it here.

But this one - this is the funkiest of them all.

a very cute and FUNky armadillo!

my cat gwen shares your passion for armadillos! in her case, ever since she was a kitten (that would be 15 years ago) she has dragged a stuffed armadillo about. it maybe the only armadillo in our house - a friend gave it to us 28 yrs ago when we moved away from texas with the story that if we ever got 'homesick' for texas all we would have to do is go outside and put the stuffed armadillo on the street (which by the way looks amazingly similar to the one in the linked post)

I did a double take, first reading that as "funky dildo".

I was, however, nodding in agreement.

lol Kris...

the dillo passion reminds me of children's book author Jan Brett and her thing for hedgehogs. I somehow associate them both for some reason. Perhaps because they are not the typical favorites.

anyway, this is a funky little guy. Do you have any that can double as a wind stopper for under the door? I don't know the actual term but you know when the wind is coming in under the door in winter and you put something there to stop it? That!

That is awesome!

Haha . . made Kris' mistake . .clearly its a funky 'dillo. Sorry chook. You should get someone to make a few for Made4Aid. Sorry I haven't bid but your stuff is so expensive given our exchange rate! I'll stick with sending pencils and hair elastics to Tanzania

I wasn't around this neighborhood in 2006 so I just learned of the place armadillos occupy in your space - both inner and outer. This one looks like the pottery pieces sold in Mexico City - a funky psychedelic Aztec Son of the Dillo God.

re Made4Aid: what Baino said about pencils and elastics for Tanzania although I dearly love several of the pieces you're putting online.

Best from Graulhet, Lettuce.

lettuce, funky indeed! Didn't see any like this in Arkansas!

@kimy, wonderous story! That's a long time for a stuffed toy, wot? Didn't see any up in the TX panhandle, tho'...

Mme Romaine-Bibb,

Susan from GG/bricolage blogs here. Sorry have not been back about made4aid. Next week I plan to do a push on GG re: aforementioned. I think you wrote to me in email but can't find...juggling gazillion things. If you wouldn't mind, could you send me email at gg address so I can ask you some things to more effectively highlight artists, etc. I have specific ?s & I know I can go to made4aid as well. But I'm rushing rushing before storms shut this computer down (again!!!).

Thanks so much. I moved the thumbnails up in both blogs, added the links & am variously trying to trap people as nicely as possible:)

May have good news on employment front, too, (oh please) & would dearly love that red & white bag. Really love it.

Anyway, here comes the thunder, Lettuce. Love those 'dillos. Julie the Cat would love one, I'm sure. But I just ordered her a wooden toy-box-whack-a-ball-fish-out-toys thingy. To keep her out of my purse (I'm serious.)

xoxo

What a cute "pet". I once owned a churango, a Bolivian instrument made from an armadillo shell. The hair on the outside continued to grow, I kid you not!
