Flight or falling? Whats the difference?
Neither is possible without letting go.
Coming or going?
Sometimes the only way to see the view is from the air.
And here are some other flying things.
Bats in the South of France - my friends house was right on their flight path.
I think my number one super-power of choice would be teleportation - but flight would come a close second.
Apologies to those of you who have seen this 2nd video before - though it was some time ago. The action starts just after half way through....
Starlings preparing to roost under Eastbourne pier.

I can tell you from personal experience that in that instant when you are falling and haven't hit the ground, there would be nothing better than a pair of wings.
Lovely and thought-provoking!
Nice! That first photograph of the falling leaf is beautiful!
love the falling leaf pic as well...think i will take flying over falling any day! your link still goes to the suitcase post as well...just a heads up.
wonderful photos and food for thought here, Lettuce!
lettuce, interesting choice of super powers. And cool with the bats!
flying/falling: except for the laws of gravity, no difference whatsoever :-)
All of this is gorgeous but the fourth photo and the second video 'speak' the most to me at the moment.
cheers to you in London.
Flying and falling... sorta like living and dying. Some time, somewhere, we get lost in the middle...
I'm with Bets & Brian on the falling leaf. It's a lovely image. There are a number of bloggers ruminating on flying (themselves) today. I ended up going with Snoopy!
I've seen the starlings one before but it's still amazing. Bats scare the bejebus out of me! :0
Gorgeous, gorgeous photos, Lettuce. Simply flight-a-licious.
I am beyond dim. Just realised that I pasted a post URL into my reader not your blog URL no wonder I thought you'd stopped blogging. Just pack me up in a rocket ship and send me into outer space!
The bats remind me of those military aircraft--stealth bombers. What a cool video!
This is such a lovely post.
In the summer eveniungs, there are bats just like that in my back yard. I lean back in my garden chair and watch them feasting on mosquitoes.
Nice post. A thought implant for the rest of the day... -J
Lovely wing tip photos!
Indeed, coming or going? flying or falling? It all depends on your point of view, doesn't it?
That leaf photo is awesome. Simplistically poignant.
I love the picture of the falling leaf. It is supposed to bring good fortune if you can catch a falling leaf in October. I spent many a dog walk trying to do just this in my youth (to my dogs dismay :) )
"Neither is possible without letting go"
I really like that Lettuce.
The pics are amazing especially the first one which speaks flight to me, but on a gloomy Monday, it may just say falling.
Thanks for sharing.
These images are spectacular! How in he world did you capture images of a plane in flight?? Wow.
Falling involves gravity.
Flight is all about buoyance.
There is a difference, I think so anyway. Where were you headed on the plane?
there is nothing like the feeling you get when you notice there is nothing holding you up...i hope that is not what a billion trillion leaves feel every fall...the horror!
thanks for your comments everyone
and thanks for the heads up, Brian. oops! i should question my computer-prompts... (I'll join you there Baino)
CG - Snoopy is a great choice! i shall come and see. I have an image now in my head of Woodstock in a flying helmet.
Poetikat, they are JUST like stealth bombers! great image
Reya, the plane pics. were taken on the way to the USA last year. I can't remember whether they were on the way in or the way out! I can never resist, being above the clouds is so amazing.
great pics....I love watching bats and how nice to have a place to come to when I need a little bat lift!!
the second vid is just as good the second time around.
we share a love of snapping out of plane windows, am not surprised!!
Letting Go indeed is the goal.
I used to be able to fly in my dreams and still remember the feeling of soaring above and trying to get higher than the treetops.
But it seems, over time that there is more to hold onto and it gets harder to release.
As I appreciate life and connections.
Your aerial views are stunning.
