computer update: i don't know if this supports the "female trouble" theory (though of course, Reya, you are right) but its the Logic Board on my beloved computer which has gone doolally.
and which would cost more to fix than the cost of a new computer.

Oh, bad luck Lettie.
I wouldn't dream of trying to advise you on what to buy but 2.5% off the VAT is at least helpful - and don't forget that John Lewis give you a 2-year free guarantee thingey.
But you may get video iCHAT capability, which L uses whenever she can. Maybe she'll show me how, and we can have a bloggerish confab!
That's so maddening! I hope it gets resolved soon. I have such a love-hate relationship with my computer. And other gadgets. I recently bought a Pentax digital camera but it refuses to download pix to my computer. I put the card in and it pops up "memory card error". Grrrrrrrrrrrr.
add phooey-buckets to the list. That is poor news, indeed. slow is soooooooo hard to take.
here's wishing you a stroke of Holiday generosity landing out of the blue on you, letty.
Sorry to hear about the comp, but Valerie Singlton would be proud of your sticky backed plastic preparedness!!
boo! Nothing like a computer that doesn't work to put a crimp in things! Bad old Apple! I liked piffle and poot the best. :)
They still do take tonsils out but it gets to be a not so easy operation once you become an adult. At least that's what they tell me. Mine usually don't act up so I'd rather have them than the operation. :)
Sorry to hear about your computer keeping time with the seasons in letting its light go out early.
I sincerely hope that my computer didn't notice that your computer has a bad case of the collywobbles, because this one is getting a little elderly and I really don't want it to come out in sympathy with yours.... and don't you really really love that word "doolally"??? I do.
miss you. i am growing up without you. are you getting an eddy for boxing day?
Hope your computer comes through this time of illness!
The logic board -- yikes. I don't know what it is, but it sounds bad!
Sorry you're going through computer turmoil. :(
yikes...that's bad when it would cost more to fix and to get a new one!! I think there's a clock inside computers which goes off right around the holidays and messes everything up... e's computer is currently in the shop - her hard drive got all wonky. she's doing pretty good being without.... although she has dropped by a couple times just to check her email!
thanks for the thought Sally.
Tut-tut, that would be entertaining. If its a Mac thing, i should be able to get it...
Dumdad, grrrrrrr indeed
RlB, phooey buckets is good! :-)
wouldn't she, herhimnbryn? its always such a fiddle, though, getting the air-bubbles out...
hope you're feeling better, lynne.
ArtsParker, i wouldn't mind so much if there was hope of more light in the Spring
i do, shammmie, i do
(good luck with your computer)
eddy. :-[ Miss you too. We have to wait for our Eddy till we get back to London in the New Year. You'll be the first to know.
thanks Barbara.
Steve. hello! :-D
i don't know what it is either, but it IS bad. and v. expensive.
its ridiculous Kim, only 3 and half years old, and more or less defunct. But I really shouldn't moan, there are other computers in the room
It is SO maddening when computers go bad!
