Actually, I stripped and painted the room you'll be staying in--I hope you like pale seafoam walls. (Before it was nursery wallpaper with big polka dots--I couldn't stand to stay in the room for very long!)
Some people don't think that stripping wallpaper is a fun job.... but ooooh the total satisfaction when a whole strip peels off in your hand, you can't beat it!
Did you ever watch The Royal Family when they were stripping the lounge for the christening "Mambo no5"? That creases me up. You've done a great job there, is it to be paint or wallpaper? BTW, I back posting...
my fears of falling plaster were unfounded :-) (fankfully) so i'm hoping to be able to paint straight onto the walls, after a bit of filling, sanding etc..... (you're welcome any time malc)
can't be doing with all that wallpaper nonsense.
so the stripping has indeed been quite satisfying, so far
further suggestions for music to paint to would be welcomed.
Tut tut, no sadly i didn't.
gary, i'm thinking of doing a quick bit of packing later this morning (flight at 16:00)
steve some might say so. But I figure now its started, I know it will be done sooner not later, even if it takes a while...
What's going up on those walls when you've finished stripping?
ReplyDeleteMore wallpaper?
My handy hint for wallpapering is extra strong paste coupled with a lot of bad language. Seems to help somehow.....
~(:o})=
Stripping means something must replace what's gone . . . sometimes a conundrum. Your music choices are good. Did you ever see Stop Making Sense??
ReplyDeleteI love those feathery rows of seagulls (and the cranes of course).
ReplyDelete:))
must try out those songs! ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh I agree with both you and GOW.
ReplyDeleteRockin' Music and Bad language is the only way...
PS: I was referring to yr Thames post and pics, Lettuce.
ReplyDelete(what with my network probs I've almost forgotten how to blog).
;)
Oh you are quite the little tease aren't you? I was expecting to see some racy shots and all I get is a bit of wall.
ReplyDeleteBut honestly, don't you have to start packing?!
the post fit right in with the thursday 'home' theme!!! synchronicity!
ReplyDeletelook forward to seeing what goes up!
He he.
ReplyDeleteGood one! :D
this kind of stripping doesn't look like much fun ...
ReplyDelete:)
last time i spent all that time stripping I painted! and I sigh a huge sigh of relief--paint! I never need to strip it!

ReplyDeleteGreat sense of achievement when it's all stripped. I'm with ex-shammi on this one!!
ReplyDeleteWhen do we get to see the job finished?
This seems like an odd time to undertake such a task!

Yea what will you do once you are done?
ReplyDeleteWhat happens next? My limited experience says it's hard to strip off old wallpaper without pulling off chunks of plaster.
ReplyDeleteoooh some wallpapers are very difficult to strip off! doing for a living would be rough, esp in the hot months.
ReplyDeleteI know a good plasterer who can skim those little dodgy bits.
ReplyDeleteWhat's music to wallpaper to?
I always found Status Quo was very good for slapping paint on the walls. So what's going on the walls when the stripping's all done?
ReplyDeleteThere's some pretty funky layers of wallpaper there Letty. I love decorating and agree, a good soundtrack is needed.
ReplyDeletemy fears of falling plaster were unfounded :-)
