more silliness

We're seeing the benefits of all the rain we've had this Spring in sumptious bowls of raspberries.

yum yum yum

and not only wonderfully raspberryish and soft and juicy sweet-sharp delicious (especially with nearly-lashings but not quite too much cream)

but also with that edge of potential silliness in the word "raspberry" with its great comedic potential...

...exploited most sublimely this classic of British TV comedy:

  2. The berries look very tasty. One can't enjoy them enough.

    Fun video.

Nothing wrong with tea! My favorite is Jasmine Pearl. Summer afternoons are iced tea of our own making also.

    We're tea snobs also. Cheers!

  5. Oh I was happy to see Ronnie Barker as the butler, the copper and the edward! Whatever became of poor Granville? We never see him anymore!

  6. I LOVE British comedy! I watched the whole thing and laughed at that droll silly humor.

Your picture of raspberries (with their little hairs visible) makes me hungry for berries. Unfortunately by the time they come to us they are usually in little plastic boxes and there are often a couple of moldy ones. There is a lot to be said for eating straight from the vine/bush!

  12. Granville? Didn't he metamorphose into Del Boy and Inspector Frost (among other roles)?

  13. Yum! I love raspberries so so much.

The British humor, as always, flies right over my head. I think I'm missing a crucial humor gene or something. But I believe it's funny ... just don't get why.

  14. For some reason the two Ronnies remind me of Rocky & Bullwinkle. Same goofy plot! Same (many) lovely personalities.

  15. ha! you're right bella, he does look a little like austin powers.

coffee messiah, even happier to "meet" you if you're a tea snob too! ;op (we've been having iced tea with rooibosch and fresh orange juice mmmmm)

ex-shammie, they're both sporting some splendid facial hair. funny to think of you in ipswich too!

tf - we see granville quite a bit in repeats... tho as the dotterel says, he's moved on to other things

barbara, raspberries never get very cheap to buy over here, so it is wonderful to have them in the garden. fresh off the bush for breakfast.... yum

D-D, not the other kind? how disappointing ;-p

lamalu, hard to see how anyone wouldn't, isn't it?

betty did you ever get round to planting some? they are easy-peasy to grow...

kate, i think this was the definitive Queen Vic!

tut-tut, i don't know if its cockney! you're spurred me to investigate, i shall report back any etymological findings. (careful not to say entymological...)

hello the dotterel. He did indeed, and he just keeps going..

reya its finding it funny thats the main thing i think, knowing why is much more elusive

ched - the 2 ronnies as rocky and bullwinkle, thats very funny.

  16. I think the sound was out of sync on the video and drove me a bit nuts. It reminded me of Gilbert and Sullivan.

Yummy raspberries. And then there is always Carol Channing in Throughly Modern Millie saying "Rasberries" again and again. LOL.

  17. You know... I got the most delicious package of yummy in the mail a little while ago. You are sooooo thoughtful and generous!! I have been wanting to send you a proper thank you for days now, but had to choose between that and showering..... Thank you is inadequate, but its all I have for now. I don't deserve you.
