Suffolk

Some pictures from a visit to Suffolk in March. This is the East coast of England, on the big bulgy bit above London and the Thames estuary - beautiful countryside where I take long long walks with my friend Lucy and her crazy bouncy dog.

I wish I could have taken photos inside this cafe, it felt like stepping back into my childhood ...

letttuce, fantastic snaps! The top one here would do nicely for a header snap, it would!

I bet you could get a huge plate of baked beans on toast and a cuppa tea in that cafe. Sustenance after a long walk with a bouncy dog.

What beautiful, serene images. The first one, in particular, just makes me feel calmer about everything. Thanks, Lettuce!

Oh fab photos Lettuce - I particularly like the one of the beach huts! :)

Oh, I wish you could have taken one inside too!

Lovely all of them. The beach huts make me want to translate the scene into something fabric/woven. Why?

This is a part of England I have never seen. Thanks for taking me there. I wanted to sit for a while in the little cafe and just soak up the place.

Wonderful stove-in boat. That cafe is so familiar...I would swear I had seen it in a film. A long walk - hmm. sounds like a good idea, it's a low inspiration day.

So that would be entrance to the English Channel I am taking it?
And what are those telephone-pole looking objects in the water sticking up?
Water doesn't look swimable.

A crazy, bouncy dog would make a long walk like that all the more enjoyable! :)

Odd you would mention old medical procedures; I almost posted a discussion of an old procedure called "trepanning" used in the middle ages, and in fact by the Inca of South America it is supposed, to relieve medical problems by boring out a pretty good sized hole in the skull thus exposing the brain. That this was done can be found in evidence of old skulls and pieces removed used around the neck as some sort of badge of honor??
Sorry about that; its why I didn't post it.

Lovely, lovely images all!
I particularly love the first one and the one of the beach huts. At first I thought it was a shame that the sun was not out in the beach hut pic, but then Iooked again and decided it was really great lighting just as it stood.

Although like Reya said, the first image is serene but I found it lonely as well. (Not in bad way, mind you!) :)

Then again, that rotting hull of the boat ....

Good grief, it's me back again.

I think I've finally found the correct word for describing the kinds of pics you take. At least for me, that is.

poignant

For sure in this set!

goatman, this is the Channel yes. The things in the water are something to do with measuring/marking the tides. And you'd be surprised what British people will sometimes swim in...

and thanks everyone!
