And heres another world - the world of my great Uncle Stan, with his brother Roy (who died in the 2nd world war) and various dashing daring friends of the 1920's.
This picture above is Roy, Hedda (I think?) and Stan on the right.
Hedda again, possibly on the left? and Stan is in the middle, Roy on the end with the bottle in his pocket.
and two young ladies, very shockingly attired.....

ReplyDeleteI was on jury duty once and loved it. I met such interesting people that I wouldn't have ordinarily run into.
I tried to volunteer for more but it wasn't allowed at the time.
What I find really fascinating is how modern the last two images are. All great shots.
ReplyDeletehello, Letty! What a lively bunch; they jump out of the snaps, really, don't they? And isn't it just snaps we really cling to, rather than those horrible posed portraits, hands under chin, and subject, head cocked, coyly looking out at the photographer . . .
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see old photos like these I always try to imagine what took place before or right after the shot. Isn't it amazing that these photos capture such a small moment in a life but the image it captures transcends time. It lasts so much longer. I could just jump right in.
ReplyDeletelooks like they were having a very good time in the group photo. Wonder if that pocket bottle is empty or for a refill? The clothing is different certainly on those two girls, I'd not have known that if you had not said so.

ReplyDeleteIn most old photos I've seen, I think the faces of people have a different "look" about them than modern faces. But not so these faces. They look very up to the times. They are very fun photos. Thanks for sharing them.
