late

Theme Thursday is usually a nicely low-maintenance post for me, I tend to trawl through my photo-archive and theres generally something there which I can argue is relevant.

But this one had me stumped for a while.

Until the magic hour occurred to me - the hour before dusk when the light is transforming, enchanting and golden - or sometimes silver - and the shadows are long.... Along with the hour after dawn - often the best times for photography.

So - here are some photos taken late in the day - late sunshine and shadows:

Havre des pas in Jersey, Channel Islands

le Hocq in Jersey, Channel Islands

in Ipswich, Suffolk

Royal Victoria Docks, East London

the Regents Canal, North-East London

  1. The cemetery shot, of course, is perfect as all the inhabitants are late...

  8. Simply gorgeous Sally!! How far are these places apart? You must've taken these in the span of at least several days. Yeah?

I think I like the silvery and the warm shots the best! :-) Take care my friend.

  13. Beautfiul perspectives. My favorite time to take pictures. The red ball on the beach is quite ominous and brings to mind the smotherballs of "The Prisoner". The Regents Canal photo is exceptional, the glimmering of the solid buildings.

  21. I hadn't realized that London had canals. What a treat to walk along that stone path and ponder the life when the canal was built.
If We ever get to London, this will be a sure stop to witness.

  23. Lovely Lettuce I especially like the canal shot. I took half a dozen shots over the wing of the plane coming home yesterday watching the sky turn, it was lovely. Sorry, I'm late getting around these days.

  24. wonderful take on the theme, I was away so didn't play. I'm late getting around to checking out the tt players.

I expressed a sigh of relief when I realized I wouldn't have time to play as I was hung up on 'being late' and of course that was stumping me.

all the photos are wonderful but I particularly like the cemetery and the one of regents canal

  27. All of the photos are wonderful but the top photo literally took my breath away. I do not know why exactly but have been trying to figure it out. Maybe it is the longing to be somewhere peaceful like that or an internal reaction to the cold I feel depicted in it (was it cold?) or something else? Hmmmm....

    fantastic!

  28. yes dumdad, and I'm late! i'm so late in responding to your comments and visiting your blogs.... oh dear.

thanks for all your nice comments.
Robert - these were taken at very different times, spread across oh, months at least.

    Kat thats a lovely epitaph.
    xx

Artsparker, yes! it was called "Rover" wasn't it?

Goatman, let me know if you do make it over, I'd love to show you and explore with you. London's canals are one of its hidden treasures, its like a secret world down there.

Baino and Kimy - not as late as me!

Gary as I remember it was only a little chilly...
