Some pictures from a visit to Suffolk in March. This is the East coast of England, on the big bulgy bit above London and the Thames estuary - beautiful countryside where I take long long walks with my friend Lucy and her crazy bouncy dog.
I wish I could have taken photos inside this cafe, it felt like stepping back into my childhood ...

This is a part of England I have never seen. Thanks for taking me there. I wanted to sit for a while in the little cafe and just soak up the place.
ReplyDeleteWonderful stove-in boat. That cafe is so familiar...I would swear I had seen it in a film. A long walk - hmm. sounds like a good idea, it's a low inspiration day.

ReplyDeleteOdd you would mention old medical procedures; I almost posted a discussion of an old procedure called "trepanning" used in the middle ages, and in fact by the Inca of South America it is supposed, to relieve medical problems by boring out a pretty good sized hole in the skull thus exposing the brain. That this was done can be found in evidence of old skulls and pieces removed used around the neck as some sort of badge of honor??

ReplyDeleteI particularly love the first one and the one of the beach huts. At first I thought it was a shame that the sun was not out in the beach hut pic, but then Iooked again and decided it was really great lighting just as it stood.
Although like Reya said, the first image is serene but I found it lonely as well. (Not in bad way, mind you!) :)
Then again, that rotting hull of the boat ....

goatman, this is the Channel yes. The things in the water are something to do with measuring/marking the tides. And you'd be surprised what British people will sometimes swim in...
