Telephone

Well none of these is the photo I was looking for. But these I found whilst looking. And they are much better pictures than the one I was searching for.

Such is life.

Great images...all! Especially liked "Family." Reminded me of a month ago when I was sittin in DIA, Denver International Airport, waiting to fly to San Francisco. There was a couple sitting across from me. She was tweaking on a Blackberry. Her hubby had one Blackberry in each hand and was, ambidexterously, tweaking. A virtual Blackberry Menage a Trois.

I love those old telephone boxes.
In Islington upper Street they used to paint them hot pink! looked very strange but good too. Broke through the city, softened it.

seeing people in those old cubby hole telephone stalls at courthouses and ancient libraries always looked weird... great pic pics.

great photos....with this theme, I did discover that is this something that I have not taken pics of - telephones!

I thought I had a few pics of broken public telephones but couldn't find them! and the red london telephone boxes again, I guess I just dreamed I snapped a pic of one of them!!

love the black handset among the yellow ones! most excellent find!

I've always loved the British phone booths. Just something really interesting about them.

How sad to see the red booths devoid of phones...I love your family shot...Change is everywhere, isn't it?

Loved the odd-phone-out in that New York lineup. :)

Great pics. I couldn't tell you where a public phone might be in my neck of the woods! And London / England must never get rid of the red boxes even if they don't have phones in them! Where else can Superman get changed?

Do kids even know what a phone booth is? love the pics

That last "Family" shot is great, Lettuce! Great set of takes on the theme.

Everyone has phones like the last pic now, don't they?

Two red things out of Britain that I wish we had over here—the phone box and the double-decker bus. No wait! There are three things. I can't forget the post-box.

I'm missing the Dr. Who phonebooth now.

Very cool.

The picture of your (adorable) family is how telephone works these days. I don't think phone booths even exist in DC any longer! Many people no longer have land lines either. Everything is MOBILE now!

Great! a picture says a thousand words...and with no texting to boot!

Ooh! Great post. A couple of my favourite NYC shots and then that fab 'family' one.

Yes, love those London ones and to think the loony leftward GLC had to give up their plan of scrapping them all for NY style yellow plastic bubbles. Ugh. then at vast expense they put the old booths back in after rebuilding them. that was in the 80's.

Jasmine, i've never seen pink boxes in islington, i'll search a bit next time i'm there! (Islington is a particularly cool bit of london isn't it?)

kimy i'm gobsmacked. something you don't have 109 pictures of?! :-)

baino, its a definitive argument for keeping them

Jeffscape, how could I have forgotten to include the tardis? shame on me. look here

mmm I'd forgotten all about those bubbles. easy to see why one would want to

The family pic is beautiful!

And the other pics - wow - there are still public telephones? I never see any here in DC except at Union Station. Love seeing people chatting on public phones. It's a blast from the past!
