butters

Nothing to do with dairy produce.

"Butters" is (or was... could be i'm out of date already) sauwf london slang for ugly. Butt-ugly, presumably. To be pronounced, of course, without clearly enunciating the "tt"s.

as in "as butters as the back of a bus".
A london double-decker bus, of course - but sadly wouldn't be a routemaster these days.

My water butt - only about 8 years old (received on my xx birthday) - has an unrepairable split in its butt. I have tried smelly sticky supposedly waterproof repair gunky stuff, twice, and carefully, according to manufacturers instructions, but without success. Didn't do what it said on the tin.

So - I have to buy a new one. Which gives me the excuse to upgrade to a more slimline model, with also hopefully greater capacity.

After all, who doesn't like big butts?

Or - should I get one of these butters butts?

yes, these are all water butts, i kid ye not.

Which one would you choose for me?

The slim-line water butt i covet costs rather a ridiculous amount of money. But i'm going to buy it anyway, justifying the expense firstly on the grounds of environmental concern, and secondly on the grounds that its my birthday.

For anyone who's interested, there are some pictures of me on last year's birthday post - click here if you like.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND MANY HAPPY RETURNS I hope you have a fantastic day!

On the subject of water butts - I'd definitely go for the white one that looks like a rock. In fact I might have one myself!

Happy happy birthday! I enjoyed your photo timeline. But, what is a water butt? We don't have such things, or if we do, I'm in the dark!

Happy birthday!

I guess I'm just a dumb dad but what are water butts used for?

P.S. Not content with lifting your NeoCounter I've now installed the weatherpixie. Thanks.

If I had to make a choice I would say the tree trunk. I think it has great style and class.

Looking back at the photos, your face hasn't changed much at all, you are definitly recognisable from your teen photo.

Hope your day is going well;-)) (thats a double smile and not a double chin). Happy 'bleep bleep' Birthday. I won't sing that song that Pod sang...

Regarding your next post I am with Martin and guess it will be on fanny bags!

Lettuce,

I have never in my entire life heard of a water butt. I thought I wasn't understanding merely because I've had a glass of wine. Glad to see others were in the same boat!

So, knowing nothing about its functionality, I choose the one that looks like a rock.

that seems appropriately Zen of you Steve. :o)

And it looks as though theres a marketing opportunity here for some American or other.... p'raps maybe?

I like the butt with the watering can, that looks (vaguely?) like a tree trunk!

So, is this your birthday post?! No wonder no-one knew anything about it! :-D
