my father's shoes

which I did actually slip on once or twice to pop out into the garden when I was last there

which was looking radiant in the sharp clean November sunshine.

The spindleberry berries are mostly ripened, opened and gone.

They look - as my mother (rather surprisingly) remarked, very sexy.

and
the night time routine...

Night-time snacks. Tea and toast once, usually twice, sometimes three or four times between 11.00/12.00pm and the morning hours.

An education in loving indeed. It must be rather like having a baby again with that night time routine, very tiring. The garden looks beautiful, very well kept.

Life is such a mix of the beauty with the mystery of pain.

what I meant to say, then got distracted by those really pretty pictures..... I'm sorry that Shelley got to my house and nabbed that bag that you requested. I'm down to 2 bags now, but I'll send the elves to work, and post photos when there is a larger stash again.
Thank you so much.

I remember as a child, every time there was some major change in the garden - leaves falling, or something coming into flower - thinking that it would be the last spring/autumn or whatever that my mother would see, and trying to sort of fix it in my head, try to stop it changing. Made me very aware of changing seasons (it went on for years actually as she always recovered when people least expected her to) and now when I see certain bushes losing leaves, it feels like yesterday.

Dunno what I am trying unsuccessfully to say. Just the two sets of photos - illness and garden - brought back vivid memories.

Right I'm going. Just ignore me, I didn't mean to sound maudlin.

Hope you are OK.
xx

i am really touched by this. especially your closing statement, which is perfect, and so positive yet so sad. i understand what you are going through, as i have experienced similar. i am sure you are already, but trying to face the whole thing as front on as you can will really help. bless you so much
